“The Lord’s Prayer Song” is the center of worship for those who follow the Way of Abba. The Way of Abba is simply another name for “the way that Jesus taught”.

The Lord’s Prayer is the only prayer that Jesus taught and the one whose use he commended universally.

The Lord’s Prayer Song simply takes the words of the prayer and puts them into lines that can be sung. The meaning has not been changed. If anything, the simplicity and uncompromising insistence on making earth and heaven the same and on mutual forgiveness, is more pronounced.

The lyric can be sung or even chanted to virtually any melody, in any rhythm. Here are the words to the Lord’s Prayer song.

Abba is the familiar name used by Jesus in the Lord’s Prayer. It suggests the same closeness that he notes in Mark when he first states the gospel or good news message — that the time is fulfilled and the kingdom of heaven is at hand. This nearness, this accessibility, this chance to apply the very power of Abba to our lives in intimacy and simple practice — this is what gives birth to our capacity to say we are on Abba’s Way.
